Every day you are bombarded by all types of dissonant energies, from people you interact with to technology emitting electromagnetic frequency that can zap your natural biological rhythms. You may start off the day feeling great and after a day of multi-tasking and being plugged in, you’re tired, edgy and stressed out. Your frequency has been jammed.
Many of us intuitively understand that we are energy. Our physical bodies are uniquely designed to create energy from the food we eat, the air we breathe and the water we drink. In yoga, the energy of prana (Sanskrit for breath) is our life force. It can relax and rejuvenate the body and the mind, connecting us to a system of energy channels. Vortices of energy called chakras correspond to areas in the physical body. In Oriental Medicine, Qi or Ki, runs along an interconnecting network of channels, and has been described as the interaction of heaven and earth by ancient philosophers. You may have experienced the positive effects of this unseen energy while engaging in mind/body practices, meditation or bodywork.
The way in which we receive and expend energy affects our quality of life. If you’re sensitive, empathic or hold blockages in your own field, you may attract low frequency energy, including energy vampires who thrive on using other people’s energy to promote their agendas. Or you may automatically merge with another’s energy field without being consciously aware. And many of us have had experiences where someone’s bad mood or emotional outburst has left us feeling totally depleted.
We can’t shut out the world, but we can raise our frequency and thereby protect ourselves from outside interference, energy vampires and charlatans. Knowing where your energy begins and ends, and becoming aware of other people’s energy fields can help you take appropriate action to maintain your center.
